KAEC Poipet Casino (Old Site)

The casino previously located here advertised space for online gaming operators, although this was prior to Cambodia’s online gambling ban. It also carried the banner of a Thai online gaming platform as recently as 2023. It has since moved to a new much larger location, which hosts online scam operations.

Background

KAEC Poipet is a licensed casino that has since relocated to a much larger compound, which has been linked to online scam operations (see profile here). There is evidence indicating that while still at its old site the casino was renting online office space.

The exterior of the casino carried large logos for the online casino platform Dr.Gaming as recently as 2023 (viewable on Google Street View). Former workers’ Facebook pages can be found online, with several describing themselves as ‘call centre workers’ and posting ads for online gambling sites.

A Facebook page for KAEC that has not been updated since 2015 shows the casino had an office rental sales office. Photos from the same Facebook page show renovation work ongoing for a large office space. The banner on another KAEC Poipet page advertised ‘online office space’ for rent. These were posted prior to Cambodia’s online gambling ban in 2019.

Which Actors and Companies Have Been Linked to KAEC Poi Pet (Old Site)?

KAEC Poi Pet Co., Ltd. received a temporary casino licence for KAEC Poipet Casino at the old site in December 2022. KAEC Poi Pet Co., Ltd. is chaired by a Cambodian national and has four other Cambodian directors. The chair of the company until December 2024 was also previously a vice president of the Banteay Meanchey Chamber of Commerce.
